The LifeSign Uricult Urinary Tract Infection Test Kit provides effective bacterial detection and identification in a simple and reliable manner. The test is intended for in vitro diagnostic use and can be easily performed in an office setting, without the need for a high-end lab.
Simple and Quick: The Uricult test kit allows differentiation and enumeration of bacteriuria in a sample. The kit consists of a culture paddle attached to the screw cap of a protective vial. Once the paddle is dipped in the urine sample, it is to be placed in an incubator for 18 to 24 hours. After incubation is complete, you just have to compare the vial’s colony count density with the provided chart to find the result.
Culture Mediums: The CLED (Cystine-Lactose-Electrolyte-Deficient) agar is specifically for use in dip inoculum procedures for urinary bacteriology. It supports the growth of Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria in urine specimens.
The incorporation of Polymyxin into the CLED medium creates a selective medium for the growth of Enterococci, Staphylococci, Proteus, and Yeast, preventing the growth of most E. coli, Klebsiella, and Enterobacter. Additionally, Pseudomonas colony growth is inhibited. Occasionally, mutant colonies of E. coli, Klebsiella, and Enterobacter will be observed on this medium as large mucoid colonies.
EMB (Eosin Methylene Blue) and MacConkey agars detect and isolate Gram negative intestinal pathogenic bacteria.
