The 3M Tegaderm™ IV Transparent Film Dressing with Border is an oval shaped dressing used for the jugular and subclavian insertions of central venous catheters.
The dressing is transparent allowing the site to be monitored and waterproof to protect against bacteria, viruses and contamination. The film is made from a breathable material so that moisture vapor and oxygen exchange can occur.
Two sterile soft cloth tape strips keep the catheter and infusion lines anchored in place. It can be used with bulky multi-lumen catheters as well as standard ones. There is a deep notch that provides additional security and comfort preventing edge lift around the catheter. The picture frame style allows for less waste and a one hand smooth application. The 1655 model feature non-adhesive handles that make application completely hassle free. The 1610 model is designed for pediatric use with two colorful bears on the dressing.
Using the Tegaderm™ IV Transparent Film Dressing with Border will help prevent infections. The recommendations the CDC/HICPAC offer for the Prevention of Intravascular Catheter-Related Infections is based on studies with Tegaderm™ Film.
