Novafil sutures are non-absorbable surgical sutures composed of polybutester, a copolymer of butylene terephthalate and polytetramethylene ether glycol.

The polybutesters elasticity and static creep resistance allows the suture to elongate under load or tension like when there is wound edema, and to return to normal form when the edema goes down. The polybutester hydrophobicity prevents the sutures from absorbing water or from being affected by hydrolysis. The suture is less likely to stick to tissue during re-operative procedures.

The suture features a Tri-coined Reverse Cutting edge needle. The needle has properties that are best used for ophthalmic procedures and traction suture placement. It assists in better approximation of tough tissue. The needle has a NuCoat Technology coating that gives it better initial and multi-pass penetration resulting in less chance for tissue damage. Size 4-0, Blue, 18", Needle C-1, 3/8 Circle, 12 Sutures per box.
