The Covidien Monosof™ Dermalon™ Monofilament Nylon Sutures are made of braided nylon and used in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological surgery.
Monosof™ and Dermalon™ monofilament and Surgilon™ braided sutures are inert, non-absorbable, and sterile sutures. Each suture is made from Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6, which are long-chain aliphatic polymers. The advanced extrusion process of the nylon molecule provides maximum strand flexibility, exceptional security, consistent knotting strength, and minimal memory. Diameter is uniform and knots are snug and flattened. The braided sutures are coated with silicone to enhance ease of use and handling. This ensures smooth tissue passage and reduced capillarity. The needle on this suture is a premium reverse cutting needle, in size 5-0, P-13, 3/8 Circle, 18-inches thread length. It is used for reconstructive surgery procedures that involve muscle, tendons, cartilage, fascia and skin. The needle features a reverse cutting edge for deep tissue cutting and dissection. It comes in Black color. Available in 12 per box.
Monosof™ and Dermalon™ monofilament braided nylon sutures meet all requirements established by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the European Pharmacopeia (EP) except for minor variations in suture diameter for Monosof™ sizes 0, 3-0, 4-0, 5-0, 6-0 and 7-0.
