The Covidien Endo Stitch™ Sofsilk™ Black Silk Single Stitch Reload Sutures, 12 per Box are non-absorbable, sterile surgical devices designed for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation which includes use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, microsurgery, and neurological surgery.
Functional and Useful Construction. Made from natural proteinaceous silk fibers called fibroin, the Endo Stitch™ Sofsilk™ Black Silk Single Stitch Reload Sutures is derived from the domesticated silkworm species Bombyx mori of the family Bombycidae. These are treated to remove naturally-occurring sericin gum and are then bleached and braided. It is coated uniformly with silicone which reduces capillarity and increases surface lubricity that enhances handling and ease of passage through tissue and knot run-down properties. With a Suture Size of 2-0, the Softsilk Black Silk Suture is great for the closure of thick skin, fascia, muscle, and tendon repair. It also gradually loses tensile strength over time.
The Covidien Endo Stitch™ Sofsilk™ Black Silk Single Stitch Reload Sutures come with 48" Suture Length, an ES-9 Taper Needle and a quantity of 12 per Box.
