Kigler Iron Agar is a differential medium used to differentiate members of Enterobacteriaceae according to their abilities to ferment glucose and lactose. Pioneered by Kligler and further developed by Bailey and Lacey, the KIA medium also allows for the identification of sulfur reducers. The BD BBL Kigler Iron Agar Slants Culture Media are sold in 100 tubes per case. They are perishable and must be refrigerated to maintain storage temperature from 2°C to 8°C.
